“Tomorrow is always fresh, with no mistakes in it.” –-L.M. Montgomery, Anne of Green Gables
I got this easy, delicious recipe for elegant looking dessert bars from Grandma Milne. The recipe works for an 8 inch by 8 inch pan. To make it for an 8.5 x 11-inch pan, double the recipe.
- 1 stick butter
- 1 1/2 cups graham crackers
- 1/2 package semi-sweet chocolate chips (6 oz.)
- chopped walnuts (if desired)
- 6 oz. coconut flakes
- 1 can sweetened condensed milk
Melt one cube butter in regular square cake pan. I stick the pan with the cube of butter in it into the oven. When butter is melted, sprinkle the graham crackers over the butter and stir together so that the graham crackers are covered in butter and press into a crust. Spread 6 oz of semi-sweet chocolate chips over the graham crackers. Cover with one cup chopped walnuts if desired. Sprinkle coconut flakes over the nuts. Pour 1 can sweetened condensed milk over ingredients. Bake at 350 degrees for 20 minutes and coconut is browned.
