Christmas Caramel Popcorn Balls


There are so many caramel popcorn recipes but this one is very good and very easy.  I got this recipe from my friend Jeanette.  I have seen a variation of this recipe, using one cup brown sugar instead of two but haven’t tried it.

Check your candy thermometer – Boiling water should read 212 degrees F.

  • 1 cup butter
  • 2 cups brown sugar
  • 1 cup karo syrup
  • 1 can sweetened condensed milk

Combine butter, syrup and sugar.  Bring to a boil.  Stir in the sweetened condensed milk and bring to a soft ball stage.

Pour over popcorn.  (It helps to grease the popcorn bowl–I spray it with Pam.)  Butter hands lightly and form balls when popcorn mix has cooled somewhat.

Tip: You can buy already popped popcorn at Harman’s grocery store.  One of their big bags makes 3 batches with each batch making around 12-15 popcorn balls each.

Roll popcorn into balls and give as treats or, even easier, forego shaping it into balls and just fill ziploc bags with it.
